We Demonstrate How To Create Useful Under Stairs Storage Units
The brief for this job was to create the opportunity for the positioning of a TV unit with under stairs storage units. This was a particularly unusual commission and involved a degree of planning as well as innovative design work.
Mr H wanted to turn an open space underneath his stairs into both a storage and working space for his TV/Xbox/Speakers and other assorted paraphernalia. The stairs led up from the open plan lounge which lent itself to being used with the introduction of a bit of creative flair. The customer desperately wanted to use the space under the stairs to create more room in the lounge as the current TV unit was taking up far too much space.
The main focus of this job was in the planning, design and manufacturing stages so as to maximise the small space provided under the stairs. We designed and created small open housing units for each electrical component of his TV unit, X Box and Speakers.
How To Accommodate The TV Unit
Once on site we began to join all the housing units together to create one large TV Unit housing system. However the actual TV Unit was hung on the stairs just above all of the open storage units. This is where Mr H wanted it to go.
Whilst we were building the TV unit Mr H also informed us that he wanted to use the space behind the TV unit where there would usually be wasted space. We suggested some more open shelf units where he could store DVD/Games etc. In addition there would be an open space in between the two sets of open shelves, where we suggested the vacuum cleaner and ironing board could be stored. We then faced this space with two doors to give the impression of an under stairs storage cupboard.
Confession Time!
This job took 3 days in total to complete since we encountered a couple of problems along the way! The main one being a simple miss-measurement by a person who shall not be named! This error resulted in the wrong size doors being ordered. This wasn’t a big problem thankfully. We ordered a couple more whilst on site and got them fitted the following week. It just goes to show that even the best of us can make mistakes. The important thing is that it was rectified within a week. Honest of us to own up – wasn’t it!

The TV unit with under stairs storage units was completed in a white Textured finish with handles to match their current kitchen handles. All in all, a job well done. The customer was happy with the rearrangement of his TV unit and the extra space he was able to realise in his lounge.
